Chicago Zoological Society’s Women’s Board Gear Up for 2013 Whirl Fund-raising Gala

Brookfield, Ill.—Last month, more than 30 guests gathered at A. Marek Fine Jewelry in Oak Brook to hear the plans for the Women’s Board of the Chicago Zoological Society’s 32nd annual Whirl gala. The evening featured cocktails and hors d’oeuvres as well as an opportunity for guests to get up-close views of some furry and not so furry friends from Brookfield Zoo. Additionally, those in attendance were able to get a preview of a stunning pair of earrings being donated by Antonio Cardamuro of Miseno for the Whirl raffle.

The black-tie fundraiser, which will be held Saturday, April 20, is expected to draw approximately 750 civic and business leaders from the Chicagoland area. This year’s fundraiser themed, “Animals Around the Whirl,” begins at 6:30 p.m., where guests will have the unique opportunity to get up close and mingle with a variety of amazing exotic creatures during the cocktail reception. A three-course dinner catered by Food for Thought and dancing to the music of Maggie Speaks will follow in the Grand Tent that will be fabulously decorated. The evening will also feature a paddle raise, raffle, and live auction. Proceeds from the Whirl will support the animals at Brookfield Zoo, as well as the Chicago Zoological Society’s conservation and education programs. Tickets are $600 per person.
