Brown Bear - Axhi

Axhi brown bear made his debut at Brookfield Zoo in 1995 (along with his brother, Jim) as a six-month-old cub who had been orphaned in the wild on Admiralty Island, Alaska. In North America, the biggest threats to brown bears are habitat loss due to development and logging, increasing conflict with humans, and poaching, the latter of which is what happened to Axhi's mother back in 1995. Supporting Axhi helps in his care but also helps us share the story of this amazing species.
