Przewalski's Horse

Przewalski’s horses were once common throughout much of Mongolia. By the early part of the 20th century, livestock had overgrazed much of the grasslands that the horses relied on. By 1960, Mongolia’s Gobi region was the last place you could find Przewalski’s horses and soon after they were declared extinct in the wild. Thanks to P-horses living in zoos and managed care, the wild population has been able to recover in recent years. By supporting Przewalski’s horses at Brookfield Zoo, you're part of the efforts to help these important animals in their quest for survival.
