Brookfield Zoo Hosting Virtual Spring 5k Run/Walk and Paint Night
Zoo Fans can get Active and Creative in Support of Brookfield Zoo

Brookfield, Ill.—This spring, Brookfield Zoo is hosting two new virtual programs—a Virtual Spring 5k Run/Walk to get your blood pumping and a Virtual Paint Night to get your creative juices flowing.

Brookfield Zoo’s first-ever Virtual Spring 5k Run/Walk is happening now through May 30, 2021. The event takes you outdoors to enjoy the warmer weather and glorious colors of sprouting blooms. You choose the time and place—take a hike in a forest preserve, jog along a waterfront trail, or stroll through a neighborhood. The cost is $30 per person. Each participant receives a beanie, numbered bib, and completion certificate. Race entries benefit the Chicago Zoological Society Animal Care and Conservation Fund, which is dedicated to making a difference for animal species across the globe. To register and for additional information, visit CZS.org/SpringRun2021. Race materials will be mailed.

Brookfield Zoo fans who want another way to get involved, can pick up a paintbrush, put on a smock, and get their palettes ready for an interactive Virtual Paint Night on Saturday, June 5, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Partnering with the Pinot’s Palette’s Naperville studio, this class will be a live virtual event where participants can paint their own Bumblebee Utopia with an artist leading the way with step-by-step instruction. Registrants who cannot make it on the 5th, have up to seven days after the event to watch the recorded video. The cost, which is $35 plus shipping (or schedule a time to pick up a kit at Pinot’s Palette), includes admission to the class and a kit with everything one needs to paint a work of art—canvas, paints, and brushes. Ten dollars from each registrant will be donated back to Brookfield Zoo in support of its mission to inspire conservation leadership. To register and for additional information, visit CZS.org/VirtualPaintNight.
