Brookfield Zoo’s Giraffe Herd Enjoying Warmer Weather

Brookfield, Ill. — With the warmer weather finally here, today, Brookfield Zoo’s giraffe herd was given access to its outdoor habitat for the first time this year. In past years, the giraffes have put on quite a spectacle for guests by running around and stretching their legs. However, this year, they just casually walked around taking in the outdoor scenery that included many zoogoers who seemed happy to be enjoying the warmer temperatures too. In about two months, guests will be able to once again participate in giraffe feedings, which cost $10. Beginning May 29, and continuing through Labor Day, those interested can feed the giraffe herd that includes Ato, Potoka, Jasiri, and Arnieta.

Also, with the consistently rising temperature, guests will be able to see more of the animals outdoors, such as the okapi (pronounced o-copy), pygmy hippo, Kirk’s dik-dik, tapirs, and Galapagos tortoises.
Online reservations are required, and can be made at www.CZS.org/OnlineTicketing. The zoo also suggests reviewing its safety protocols and getting update on what animal habitats and other amenities are open at www.CZS.org/KnowBeforeYouGo.
