Spring has sprung and there’s no better way to celebrate Earth Day than by getting outside, enjoying nature, and visiting our wildlife. Lace up your sneakers and join us Sunday, April 21 for the Earth Day Run – A Run for the Planet, a 2.2 mile “fun run” through the twist and turns of Brookfield Zoo Chicago during our pre-park hours. The non-competitive run is geared to participants of all ages – fun for the whole family to enjoy! 

Each registered runner will receive an Earth Day Run commemorative medal and seeds to spread the Earth Day cheer in your own garden.

Early Bird Registration: $30.00 Race Fee + Sign-Up Fee (through March 1)
Regular Registration: $35.00 Race Fee + Sign-Up Fee (after March 1)

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

6:00 AM: Registrants can enter and check-in at Brookfield Zoo Chicago’s North Gate Entrance
6:00 AM-10:00 AM: Pavilions open with music, plus food and drinks will be available for purchase
8:00 AM: Earth Day Run begins (last call for bib pickup)
10 AM: Earth Day Run ends and the Zoo opens to guests

 

FAQs

Where is packet pick-up?

There is no packet pick-up for the Earth Day Run. Simply enter through the North Gate Entrance and show this email at check-in.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes, strollers are allowed. Runners and walkers with strollers will be asked to line up last.

Will the Earth Day Run be timed

No, this is a non-competitive, fun run and will not be timed. Prizes will not be awarded.
 

Can I walk the run? 

Yes, you can walk. Participants will not be timed.

Will animal buildings be open?

No, animal buildings will not be open until the park opens at 10:00 a.m.

Can my family watch me run?

Yes, but with very limited access to the Zoo. Spectators must remain on the North Mall (Carousel/Pavilions area) during the run. Only registered runners wearing their race bib will be allowed on the course.
 

What food will be available for purchase?

Coffee, donuts, and other breakfast snacks will be available for purchase near the Pavilions.
 

What happens if it rains or snows?

The run is a rain, shine, or snow race! We encourage all participants to be prepared with proper clothing and footwear.
