What is the recommended age for a Birthday Party at Brookfield Zoo Chicago?

We recommend parties for all kids, ages 3-11.

How long do the Birthday Parties last?

Our Birthday Party time slots are: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., or 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. only. The Package price includes our outdoor Bramsen Picnic Pavilion. However, we also offer some indoor spaces and upgraded experiences for an additional cost. Please call the Catered Events Department at 708.688.8355 for more information about these upgrade options.

How many guests can I invite to my Birthday Party?

In order to have a private, reserved area for your Birthday Party you must have a minimum of (15) guests. The maximum number of guests is (40). If your party is going to have more than (40) guests, do not panic! You can reserve one of our other event spaces and order your food & beverage options from our Daytime Menus. Please call the Catered Events Department at 708.688.8355 for more information about Daytime Menus and offerings.

Do we have access to the Zoo all day?

Yes, your package includes an admission ticket for all your guests. Which means they are welcome to arrive prior to the start of the Birthday Party. However, they are not allowed access to the private area until the start of your reservation. Guests are also welcomed to stay afterward but will not be able to stay in the private area or store their belongings in the private area either.

Can we decorate?

Yes, you can decorate for your Birthday Party. However, early access is not permitted to do so. You must be able to decorate and clean-up within your scheduled reservation. All décor items must be approved by the Zoo prior to the event date. Additionally, décor cannot be hung from ceilings and cannot block walkways or doorways. The following items are strictly prohibited: Confetti, Glitter, Pinatas, Rice, Bird Seed, Balloons, Candles, Glass Containers, Plastic Straws, Loud Music, Bouncy Balls, Bouncy Houses, Frisbees, Roller-Skates and Noise Makers of Any Kind. This is not an all-inclusive list, so please make sure to talk with your Sales Manager for further direction.

Are we allowed to bring a birthday cake?

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring Birthday Cake and/or Birthday Cupcakes for you and your guests. However, they must be covered and protected upon entry of the Zoo. Please note that Brookfield Zoo Chicago will not store these items for you, so please plan appropriately. You are limited to (1) cake-cutting knife only (which you may also bring yourself).

Do you offer any other fun activities?

Yes, we can provide you with several fun entertainment ideas! From Face Painting to Strolling Magicians. Just ask your Sales Manager for more information.

Does the package price apply to both kids and adults?

Yes, the price of our Birthday Party packages applies to anyone who is 3 years or older.

What if it rains or snows on the party date?

Brookfield Zoo Chicago is a “Rain or Shine” facility. Although we cannot fully predict the weather, if you feel that the upcoming forecast is not conducive to hosting your Birthday Party, then please call the Catered Events Department at 708.688.8355 to work out an alternative plan. There are limited indoor spaces that are available (price increases may apply, and availability is not guaranteed).

Some of my guests have Zoo Memberships. Do I still need to pay for their admission?

Essentially, yes. Our Birthday Party Packages are loaded with value, above and beyond admission into the Zoo. This includes food, beverage and more. Therefore, anyone that will be present for the birthday party will be included in the final guest count and charged for accordingly.

How do I confirm my Birthday Party at the Brookfield Zoo?

Birthday Parties are offered on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. If you want to confirm your birthday party, you will need to provide us with a signed contract and a 50% deposit. Deposits are non-refundable, so please be sure that the details of your birthday party are locked in before moving forward with this process.
