The Jamaican iguana is a medium sized grayish-green iguana. Dark olive stripes run across its back onto its long thin tail. The dorsal crest has a blueish tint, and there are yellow-beige spots across the entirety of the iguana. Males are larger than females. This species of iguana is the second-largest land animal native to Jamaica. It was widely thought to be extinct until its rediscovery in the 1990s.
