The laughing kookaburra is the largest kingfisher. Their forehead, crown, and prominent eye-streaks are dark brown. The back and wings are brown. Their tail is barred with a white band. Males have a blue rump patch, while females have a brown rump patch. The bill is heavy, and black on top and cream-colored on the bottom.
