Charlotte can be found in a habitat in The Swamp. These playful, inquisitive animals were nearly extinct in Illinois waterways until a recovery program in the 1990s brought them back. Today, they can be found in Alaska, most of Canada, and parts of the continental United States south to Florida near rivers, in wetlands along rivers, streams, swamps, ponds, and lakes. Typically hunting at night, they eat fish, frogs, crayfish, aquatic insects, clams, and turtles. On the other hand, their most common predators are humans, bobcats, coyotes, raptors, and alligators.
